Rope a Ride on METRO

If you’re planning to attend the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG Park, there are various ways you can ride METRO to the event.

All METRO-owned transit vehicles are ADA-accessible.

There are three METRORail light rail lines:

  • The Red Line runs along Main Street through downtown Houston, and then into the Museum District and the Texas Medical Center
  • The Green Line runs through downtown Houston and along Harrisburg Blvd. into EaDo (east downtown) and the Second Ward
  • The Purple Line runs through downtown and the Third Ward (southeast of downtown)

The Rodeo exit is the Stadium Park / Astrodome station along the southern end of the Red Line.

If you're coming from areas along the Green or Purple Lines, you can transfer to the Red Line in downtown Houston and ride it southbound to the Stadium Park / Astrodome station. You'll be on the train for 13 stops and the ride will take about 30 minutes.

METRO also operates a paratransit service (METROLift). If you meet the eligibility requirements and have already been approved as a METROLift customer, you can book a ride to and from the event just as you would book any other trip on the service.

If you plan to drive for at least a portion of your trip to the Rodeo, there are several options to consider if you'd rather not park in one of the public lots at NRG Park.

Fannin South Transit Center

From Feb. 22 - March 17, park and pay $20 (cash only) at the Fannin South Transit Center (1604 West Bellfort Ave.). Every passenger in your vehicle receives a round-trip wristband to ride the METRORail Red Line. From Fannin South it's just one stop to the Stadium Park / Astrodome station.

The $20 parking rate applies to all vehicles that park at Fannin South Transit Center during those dates, even if you’re not attending the event.

Other METRO parking facilities

All other METRO parking facilities throughout the region are free of charge. However, the only shuttle METRO is operating between a parking facility and the event is at the Maxey Road Park & Ride lot at 515 Maxey Road. That lot can accommodate over 1,000 vehicles.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is operating addition shuttles of their own from various parking facilities.
