19 Miles of Improvements
This project is designed to benefit commuters along the 82 Westheimer route between downtown Houston and West Oaks Mall. Some of the enhancements you will see include:
- Roadway repair and street reconstruction, including upgraded driveways
- New or improved sidewalks along and / or near the route
- Improved accessibility along the route with safer crossings and new ramps for wheelchair and stroller access
- Bus shelters with lighting for improved safety and new trash cans
- Digital, real-time bus arrival information

3.8 miles - Congress Street in downtown Houston to Shepherd Drive along Travis Street, Milam Street and Westheimer Road.

Sept. 2024 to Sept. 2025 - Dunlavy Street to Montrose Boulevard

Jan. 2025 to Sept. 2025 - Montrose Boulevard to Bagby Street

2.3 miles - Shepherd Drive to Interstate 610 along Westheimer Road.

13.2 miles - Interstate 610 to Highway 6 along Westheimer Road.

Construction is expected to begin in Sept. 2025 and will take approximately one year to complete.
