There were 5,1524K boardings in May 2018 compared to 5,053K in May 2017, an increase of approximately 100K boardings (or 2 percent) on local bus service. There was one weather day in 2018 compared to two weather days in 2017 which contributed to a ridership gain.
Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday
Average daily ridership increased on Weekday and Sunday, but decreased on Saturday in May 2018 compared to May 2017. Average Weekday ridership increased by approximately 2K boardings (or 1 percent), average Sunday ridership increased by approximately 4K boardings (or 4 percent) and average Saturday ridership decreased by approximately 1K (or 1 percent), in May 2018 compared to May 2017.
Light Rail
Monthly Total
There were 1,564K boardings on all three light rail lines in May 2018 compared to 1,565K boardings in May 2017, a decrease of 1K boardings (or 0.1 percent). Red line ridership decreased by 2 percent, Green line ridership increased by 9 percent, and Purple line ridership increased by 7 percent in May 2018 compared to May 2017. The primary factor for the ridership the small decrease in May 2018 compared to the previous year was one fewer day of the Offshore Tech Conference as compared to last year.

Average Weekday ridership on the Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 2 percent), increased by less than 1K boardings (or 7 percent) and increased by less than 1K boardings (or 6 percent) respectively in May 2018 compared to May 2017. Average Saturday ridership on Red line decreased by 2K (or 8 percent) while average Saturday ridership on the Green and Purple lines increased by less than 1K boardings (or 2 percent) and increased by less than 1K boardings (or 1 percent) respectively in May 2018 compared to May 2017. Average Sunday ridership on Red line decreased by less than 1K (or 2 percent) while average Sunday ridership on the Green, and Purple lines increased by less than 1K boardings (or 14 percent), and increased by less than 1K boardings (or 7 percent) in May 2018 compared to May 2017 respectively.
