Internships at METRO

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is pleased to publicize its summer internship program. If you are a college student or recent graduate and you are looking for interesting work, you should consider joining METRO’s team as an intern. We love to employ aspiring and inspiring adults who want to gain professional experience and work on challenging projects that are necessary to the day-to-day operation of this first-class transit Agency. Explore this page to learn about the program and how you can apply.
METRO’s internship is a nine-week program during
the summer months, offering up to a 40-hour work
week, with flexible schedule and work hours based
on the department and the intern’s needs.
The METRO internship program starts on every first Monday in June and runs through the last Friday in July or the first Friday in August. Please check with your college or university to find out if the METRO internship satisfies any of your school's requirements. The number of METRO internship openings varies, depending on
the department’s need. METRO has several facilities throughout the Houston area. Our corporate office is located at 1900 Main St. in downtown Houston, Texas 77002. All METRO interns will receive a METRO Q® Fare Card to take advantage of free
bus and rail service during employment.

departments. Meet other interns and let the
networking begin.
- Valuable Work Assignments.
Interns hit
the ground running after discussing various
summer work projects with their managers,
meeting their summer co-workers and
discovering other job duties with which you

to learn from others and working with many
different individuals are just two of the benefits
of the program.

the facility that provides transportation and

transferable skills, as well as learn techniques
for networking, interviewing, using social media
for job search and much more.
- Lunch and Learns.
Interns attend several
lunchtime sessions to hear from senior-level
