Dryden / TMC Station
Located in the "heart" of the Texas Medical Center, Dryden Station represents two of the themes common to this famous medical complex-research and analysis. Artistically-enhanced elements at the station are abstracted forms and patterns drawn from medical science, rendered colorfully to appeal both to children and adults. The canopy bears a pattern, rendered in translucent and opaque gray laminates, reminiscent of the heartbeat line tracing of an electrocardiogram. The column cladding is a painted steel image that depicts the lifecycle of a cell as it grows and splits. The arrangement of the concrete pavers on the platform represents blot analysis results.
