METRO curb2curb Rideshare Comes to Hiram Clarke

Earlier this month, METRO cut the ribbon on its newest curb2curb rideshare service in southwest Houston.

METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran, along with Board members Diann Lewter, Troi Taylor, Christopher Hollins, and METRO President & CEO Tom Lambert, joined community leaders and elected officials to celebrate the launch of METRO's 314 Hiram Clarke.

The on-demand rideshare service offers area residents a personalized and affordable transportation option within an established zone. The service also allows customers to connect to the broader METRO transit network.

METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran stressed the necessity for transit options that meet the mobility needs of people in the region.

"Convenient, high-quality transit is essential to our communities because it gives people a safe, affordable, and environmentally sustainable way to get to school, employment, health care, and other essential destinations," said Ramabhadran. "When people have the freedom to live their lives and pursue opportunities through greater mobility, it makes our neighborhoods stronger, less congested, and more prosperous. We all benefit."

U.S. Rep. Al Green, who was in attendance, praised the Authority's efforts to provide an equitable and accessible transportation alternative to the community and presented METRO with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.

METRO's new 314 Hiram Clarke curb2curb service operates seven days a week and costs only $1.25 each way. Discounts are available to students and seniors, and curb2curb vehicles are 100 percent accessible. Scheduling is available on METRO's curb2curb app. Customers may also schedule service by calling the reservation line at 713-739-RIDE. For more information, visit METRO's website.
