Where the Ride Becomes Part of the Rodeo Experience

METRO carried more than a million riders to the 2026 Houston Rodeo.

Rodeo season in Houston usually means one thing: traffic. But for more than a million riders this year, getting to NRG Park was the easiest part of the experience. With METRO, the journey became simple, affordable, and stress-free.

During the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, METRO carried approximately 1.2 million riders, helping move people to and from NRG Park efficiently and without the stress of traffic.

For many, the choice was simple: skip the hassle and enjoy the ride.

“It’s super cheap, super convenient. I always recommend taking the train whenever you’re coming down to Houston for the Rodeo,” said Rontrell Gaines, a METRO rider.

METRO: The Reliable Way

METRORail played a key role in moving large crowds throughout the event. Trains ran frequently, connecting riders from across the region straight to NRG Park.

Instead of sitting in gridlock or searching for parking, riders were able to plan ahead, arrive on time, and focus on what mattered most, enjoying the Rodeo.

“My friend was looking at prices for parking and Uber for the Rodeo, and they were around $30 each. METRORail was right downstairs from our hotel. It was really fast, really clean and it was a nice experience,” said Danielle Arthur, visiting from Louisiana and riding METRO for the first time.

Experiences like this highlight the role transit plays during Houston’s biggest events. By carrying over a million riders, METRO helped reduce the number of cars on the road, easing congestion around NRG Park and nearby corridors.

It’s also a clear example of how transit can scale to meet demand, moving large crowds safely, reliably, and efficiently when it matters most.

Built for Big Moments

As Houston continues to host major events, METRO remains focused on delivering service people can depend on, whether it’s a daily commute or a trip to one of the region’s biggest celebrations.

And while events like the Rodeo showcase that capacity, the impact is felt every day.

For everyday riders, the benefit is just as clear: less time in traffic and more time enjoying the ride.

“I personally hate traffic. I would do anything that I can to get away from it, and METRO gives me that opportunity to relax and enjoy the ride,” said Sarai Saenz, a METRO rider.

As Houston continues to grow and host major events, METRO is delivering the kind of service people can count on, moving large crowds efficiently while keeping the region connected.
