METRO Unveils New Digital Signs

METRO is improving the transit experience for our customers with a new digital signage network seen throughout transit centers, along the METRORapid Silver Line, and on the METRONext BOOST pilot projects.

In December, METRO leadership and staff hosted a ribbon cutting at the Hiram Clarke Transit Center to commemorate the installation of the signs at more than one-third of the Authority’s transit centers.

The signs provide riders with real-time bus information, public service announcements and detours, stop closures, and special event alerts.

"It's a good thing when you can find ideas. You can find resources to implement those ideas and find opportunities for innovation," said METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran. "It is a testament to our commitment to enhancing the customer experience."

The digital signage network is part of the METRONext Moving Forward Plan, which proposes investments in service and accessibility to improve travel in our growing region.

“This is just another example of the measures we are taking to really make the customer experience better,” said METRO President & CEO Tom Lambert. “It’s really about how we are communicating with our customers to give them a better experience.”

METRO's Board of Directors approved the purchase in September 2019. Since then, the Authority has installed 158 digital signs.

The transit centers’ 43-inch-high-definition LCD monitors have a fully customizable, durable screen.

Once signs are up at all METRO’s transit centers, installations will begin at Park & Ride facilities.
