Behind the Wheel and Through the Lens: Meet Operator Mack Taylor

Mack Taylor’s journey with METRO began almost by chance. Thirty-five years ago, a family connection opened the door- his brother was already on staff, and when another relative passed on the opportunity, Mack stepped in. He started at METRO as a cleaner, quickly realizing he wanted something more public-facing. Within a year, he became a bus operator, combining his love of driving with his natural gift for connecting with people.
“I’m a people person. I love serving others,” he said. “That’s part of who I am, even in my ministry at church. I thought it would be a nice change to get out of the facility and into the public. The support METRO has given me has helped me in so many ways. The equipment I’ve been able to afford—my cameras, lighting, even my studio—has been possible because of this job.”
Through his work behind the wheel and behind the camera, Mack Taylor has turned a family opportunity into a decades-long career, showing how passion and creativity can become integral parts of public service.
