New Mini RideStores Open at Eight METRO Transit Centers

METRO has opened eight mini ride stores at several transit centers to help customer get route and schedule information.

With so many riding options available through METRO, figuring out the best route to your destination can sometimes feel overwhelming. Whether you’re a rookie or long-time rider, the new mini RideStores will help anyone in need of riding assistance.

As part of the METRONow plan, mini RideStores bring in-person customer service to some of Houston’s busiest transit centers that previously didn’t have a full-service RideStore. These new kiosks provide greater accessibility to riders seeking route information, help with maps, bus schedules, and more.

The Mini RideStores are also playing a key role in the upcoming fare system rollout expected later this year. Eventually, these locations will offer services like reloading and issuing new RideMETRO fare cards.

“We are expanding accessibility by making it convenient to get fare items, information and answers to questions about METRO,” said Tracy Johnson, director of RideStores and fare media.

METRO has opened eight mini ridestore locations at various transit centers.

METRO has opened eight mini RideStores at the following transit centers:

  • Eastwood Transit Center
  • Southeast Transit Center
  • Wheeler Station Transit Center
  • Fifth Ward/ Denver Harbor Transit Center
  • Magnolia Park Transit Center
  • Northline Transit Center
  • Kashmere Transit Center
  • Texas Medical Center Transit Center

“When we launch the new fare system, we will assist customers in transitioning to the new RideMETRO fare cards or set up a mobile account,” said Russ Frank, executive vice president of business development.

As METRO continues to evolve and modernize the rider experience, these Mini RideStores are another step toward making transit more accessible, convenient, and responsive to the community’s needs.

The RideStores are currently open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
