Monthly Total
There were approximately 5,529K boarding in October 2019 compared to approximately 5,514K in October 2018, an increase of approximately 15K boardings (or less than 1 percent) on local bus service. The primary factor contributing to the ridership increase was improved weather with only 2 inches of rain in October 2019 compared to over 7 inches of rain in October 2018.
Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday
Average daily ridership increased on Weekday and Sunday yet decreased on Saturday. Weekday average daily ridership increased by less than 1K boardings (or less than 1 percent), Saturday average daily ridership decreased by 1K boardings (or 1 percent) and Sunday average daily ridership increased by 1K (or 1 percent) in October 2019 compared to October 2018.
Light Rail
Monthly Total
There were 1,690K boardings on all three light rail lines in October 2019 compared to 1,738K boardings in October 2018, a decrease of 49K boardings (or 2 percent). Red line ridership decreased by 4 percent, Green line ridership increased by 10 percent, and Purple line ridership increased by 3 percent in October 2019 compared to October 2018. A downtown building fire was the primary factor for the loss on the Red line as portions were closed for three days (October 17 – 19, 2019).

Average Weekday ridership on the Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 1 percent), decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 1 percent) and decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 1 percent) respectively in October 2019 compared to October 2018. Average Saturday ridership on Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by more than 1K boardings (or 6 percent), decreased by 1K boardings (or 13 percent), and decreased by 1K boardings (or 19 percent) respectively in October 2019 compared to October 2018. Average Sunday ridership on Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by 1K (or 3 percent), decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 0 percent), and increased by less than 1K boardings (or 11 percent) respectively in October 2019 compared to October 2018 respectively.

There were approximately 7,219K boardings in October 2019 compared to 7,252K in October 2018, a decrease of approximately 34K boardings (or less than 1 percent).
