Monthly Total
There were approximately 4,946K boarding in July 2019 compared to approximately 4,804K in July 2018, an increase of approximately 143K boardings (or 3 percent) on local bus service. There was a positive calendar mix of one more weekday and one fewer Sunday in July 2019 relative to July 2018. A ridership increase would be expected as a result of this change in calendar mix.
Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday
Average daily ridership increased on Weekday, Saturday and Sunday. Weekday average daily ridership increased by approximately 1K boardings (or less than 1 percent), Saturday average daily ridership increased by approximately 2K boardings (or 1 percent) and Sunday average daily ridership increased by approximately 3K (or 3 percent) in July 2019 compared to July 2018.
Light Rail
Monthly Total
There were 1,594K boardings on all three light rail lines in July 2019 compared to 1,539K boardings in July 2018, an increase of 55K boardings (or 4 percent). Red line ridership increased by 4 percent, Green line ridership decreased by less than 1 percent, and Purple line ridership increased by 1 percent in July 2019 compared to July 2018. There was a positive calendar mix of one more weekday and one less Sunday in July 2019 relative to July 2018. Owing to a major convention, an international soccer game, and a major concert, there were seven days of special events on the Red Line in July 2019 compared to five days of special events on the Red Line in July 2018.

Average Weekday ridership on the Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 1 percent), decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 4 percent) and decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 2 percent) respectively in July 2019 compared to July 2018. Average Saturday ridership on Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 2 percent), decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 2 percent), and decreased by less than 1K boardings or (or 5 percent) respectively in July 2019 compared to July 2018. Average Sunday ridership on Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by 2K (or 8 percent), decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 3 percent), and decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 5 percent) respectively in July 2019 compared to July 2018 respectively.

There were 7,230K boardings on the entire fixed-route network in July 2019 compared to approximately 6,980K boardings in July 2018, an increase of 250K boardings (or 4 percent). Relevant factors were noted earlier and are included in the table above.
