There were 4,944K boardings in April 2018 compared to 4,786K in April 2017, an increase of 157K boardings (or 3 percent increase) on local bus service. A favorable calendar mix of one more weekday and one fewer Saturday relative to the previous year contributed to ridership gain.
Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday
Average daily ridership increased on Weekday and Sunday, but decreased on Saturday in April 2018 compared to April 2017. Average Weekday ridership increased by approximately 1K boardings (or 1 percent increase), average Sunday ridership increased by approximately 3K boardings (or 3 percent increase) and average Saturday ridership decreased by approximately 9K (or 7 percent decrease), in April 2018 compared to April 2017.
Light Rail
Monthly Total
There were 1,567K boardings on all three light rail lines in April 2018 compared to 1,519K boardings in April 2017, an increase of 48K boardings (or 3 percent). Red line ridership increased by 1 percent, Green line ridership increased by 11 percent, and Purple line ridership increased by 12 percent in April 2018 compared to April 2017. The primary factor for the ridership increase in April 2018 compared to the previous year was the change in calendar mix, with one more Weekday and one fewer Saturday.

Average Weekday ridership on the Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by 1K boardings (or 2 percent), increased by less than 1K boardings (or 10 percent) and increased by less than 1K boardings (or 13 percent) respectively in April 2018 compared to April 2017.
