METRO's Evacuee Relief Role

Houston METRO is offering support to refugees from Hurricane Katrina. METRO's
current efforts include:
- Transported approximately 150 of the remaining evacuees from the
megashelters at Reliant Park and the George R. Brown Convention Center to
Ellington Field for airlift to Ft. Chaffee, Ark.
- Provided bus shuttles to the Disaster Recovery Center at I-610 and Wayside
from off-site parking at 288 and Reed Road. Buses leave the lot every 15
minutes.
- Established a METRO information booth at the DRC to provide maps, schedules
and information on how to use the METRO transit system
