METRO's Evacuee Relief Role

Houston METRO is offering support to refugees from Hurricane Katrina. METRO's current efforts include:

Transported more than 700 evacuees from the Astrodome to Reliant Arena. Another 2,000 will be transported from the Reliant Center to the arena Friday.

Set up two buses as cooling centers at St. Agnes Church at South Acres and Scott Streets, where evacuees stand in line at a Red Cross distribution point.

Continued running shuttles for those seeking medical treatment and those moving from shelters to more permanent housing.

Continued transporting eight teams of volunteers setting up apartments for occupancy by evacuees.

Continued operating the #96 shuttle from GRB to the Astrodome.

Continued operating the Reliant Park shuttle.

Continued distribution of free seven-day bus passes.
