METRO's Evacuee Relief Role

Houston METRO is offering support to refugees from Hurricane Katrina. METRO's
efforts to date include:
- METRO shuttles are transporting evacuees from the east entrance of the
Astrodome to a temporary FEMA registration office at 2575 Bellfort.
- METRO chartered buses are picking up evacuees from an Amtrack train in
Lafayette, La. The first trip was made at 11 a.m. today; a second is scheduled
later today.
- METRO is scheduled to provide transportation for evacuees aboard six more
flights into Ellington Field today.
