Detoured North And Gulf Freeway Park & Ride Routes Return To Travis Sept. 6

August 29, 2005

With the reconstruction of Travis in its final stages, six METRO Park & Ride bus routes that have been on detour will be returning to Travis Street on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The affected bus routes are the 202 Kuykendahl, 204 Spring, 283 Kuykendahl-Greenway/Uptown, 244 Monroe, 246 Bay Area and 247 Fuqua.

Since July 2004, the North Freeway routes (202, 204 and 283) have been using Louisiana on outbound trips and the Gulf Freeway routes (244, 246 and 247) have been using Louisiana on inbound trips.

Travis Street is the final major segment of METRO's Downtown/Midtown Transit Streets Project, which involved the installation of new bus shelters, landscaping, sidewalks and decorative brick pavers throughout the Downtown/Midtown area. In addition, the streets have been reconstructed with new concrete pavement, installation of trench drains to minimize flooding, new traffic signals and streetlights, and replacement of aging storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water lines.

METRO's Transit Streets Project partners are the City of Houston, Houston Downtown Management District and the Federal Transit Administration.
