Who are we?

The Independent Living Research Utilization (ILRU) program at TIRR Memorial Hermann and the City of Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities are teaming up to improve community living, participation and access to healthcare for people with disabilities and older adults in Houston. With support from Amerigroup, we will be doing a survey to determine the neighborhood needs and barriers that residents experience.

Purpose

The findings from this project will help to establish community improvement priorities for public and private organizations. They will also create the opportunity for community leaders and residents to remove barriers, improve services, and help people with disabilities and older adults to achieve healthy, independent living in their homes and communities.

The Survey

The short survey (10-15 minutes) has six sections with questions on demographics, transportation, employment, community participation, access to healthcare, and housing.
