Parking Charges and Bus Fares

  • Drivers must tap a METRO Q® Fare Card to raise the parking gate and enter the lot. The exit gate will open automatically.
  • $2.00 will be deducted upon entering, with two exceptions:
    • If the METRO Q® Fare Card has a vanpool contract, no money will be deducted
    • If the METRO Q® Fare Card has a discount contract (student, senior, or disabled), $1.00 will be deducted
  • Carpoolers will pay $2.00 to enter the garage.
  • Bus riders will have the balance of their fare deducted when they tap their METRO Q® Fare Card upon boarding the bus: $2.50 if full-fare (for a total of $4.50); $1.25 if discount (for a total of $2.25). The bus boarding is treated as a transfer, but the difference between the “Route 800” fare paid at the garage entrance and the bus fare must be deducted.
  • Bus riders who re-enter the garage after leaving in the evening will not be charged, unless the 2 hour transfer period has expired. The transfer period begins when the METRO Q® Fare Card is first tapped upon boarding the bus.
  • Anyone who believes that their METRO Q® Fare Card was mischarged should contact the METRO Q® Fare Card Help Desk by calling 713-635-4000 and selecting option 2 after choosing the language.

On September 4, 2007, METRO opened its 217 Cypress Park & Ride garage and bus facility.

The opening of METRO's first parking garage brought changes that affect how you park and ride. These changes are needed to ensure that METRO patrons have first priority for safe and convenient parking.

Parking garage hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. - 9 p.m. Please remove your vehicle before 9 p.m.

The Cypress Park & Ride has:

  • 1,500 parking spaces in a four-level parking garage
  • Exclusive bus service road
  • Platform and loading area

In the second phase, NewQuest will develop:
A 75,000-square-foot commercial/retail center
A 300-unit apartment complex
