METRO Police Operations
METRO Police Department’s law enforcement officers are licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE). The department is proud of its tradition of excellence in policing and maintains some of the most qualified, well-trained police personnel in the region.
The Field Operations Division is the largest component of the agency and is responsible for responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls for services from the public. In addition, this division handles special assignments, self-initiated activities and addresses community concerns. METRO police officers conduct a wide range of law enforcement operations that improve the safety and security of METRO’s customers, properties, employees and transit system throughout the 1,285 square-mile METRO service area. Patrol officers are also responsible for partnering with the community to protect life and property and to maintain peace, order and safety. The Field Operations division is divided into shifts in order to provide 24-hour police services with each shift supervised by a shift sergeant. These operations include:
