METRO To Offer Free Rides New Year’s Eve
Agency To Help Revelers Get Home Safely

Clarifying free rides New Year’s Eve METRO service for New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2011 will follow their regular, published schedules but no fare will be required during the stated hours. Free rides are valid during regularly scheduled Saturday and Sunday bus and rail service hours. For information regarding routes and service hours please see www.ridemetro.org
METRO wants to make sure revelers ringing in the New Year get home safely.
The agency is offering free rides starting at 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) until 6 a.m. New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) on both the bus and rail system.
METRO wants to help individuals celebrating the arrival of the New Year a safe option to get home rather than getting behind the wheel.
Here’s a quick reminder of METRO’s service for the New Year’s Day holiday:
Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 (New Year’s Day)
- Local bus routes and METRORail will operate a Sunday schedule.
- No Park & Ride service.
- Customer Care Center will be closed.
- RideStore and Lost & Found will be closed.
Monday, Jan. 2, 2012
- Local bus routes and METRORail will operate a Sunday schedule.
- No Park & Ride service.
- RideStore and Lost & Found will be closed.
- Customer Care Center will be open 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Editor’s Note: Patrons planning on riding the rail on New Year’s Day will continue to enjoy free rides for the remainder of the day thanks to METRO’s partnership with Reliant.
