Mayor Swears In New Metro Board Members

April 7, 2010

Mayor Annise Parker swore in the city of Houston’s new board members today at a special board meeting held at METRO’s headquarters.

The city’s representatives are: Board Chairman Gilbert Garcia, managing partner at Davis Hamilton Jackson & Associates; Dwight Jefferson, attorney at law; Carrin Patman, attorney at Bracewell & Giuliani; Allen Dale Watson, professional engineer at CobbFendley; and Christof Spieler, professional engineer at Morris Architects.

Before swearing in the new members, the mayor thanked the outgoing board members and acknowledged she’s asking the new members to do some “heavy lifting.”

“Literally, the future is in your hands – what this city looks like, how this city moves,” said Mayor Annise Parker. “This is not just about the city of Houston. This is about our region. And I know that you are all committed to that.”

The new board members join Harris County representatives Jackie Freeman and Trini Mendenhall Sosa, and Multicity representatives Burt Ballanfant and Jimmy Stewart.

New board member Watson will serve as vice chairman of the new board, and Freeman will continue to serve as board secretary.
