UPDATE 5: METRO NOT OPERATING SERVICE SUNDAYMETRO CONTINUING RESCUE EFFORTS AND PREPARING TO RESTORE SERVICE

Due to continuing unsafe road conditions, METRO has cancelled service for Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008.

METRO is continuing to aid evacuation efforts in the area, including transporting more than 150 residents of a local apartment complex to a high school and the transfer of more than a dozen Coast Guard evacuees to shelter. METRO expects these numbers to increase as the day progresses.

While every effort will be made to implement service as quickly as possible, the safety of METRO’s passengers and operators will remain paramount.
