New METRORail Destination: Third Century B.C. China

They stand tall, ready for battle, but don’t worry - these clay soldiers are not here to fight, but rather to unveil a gripping glimpse into the life of China’s First Emperor. Board METRORail, travel some 2000 years into the past and stand before the Terra Cotta Warriors.

The new exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor is being touted as one of the most significant archeological finds of the 20th century. Now, you can go face-to-face with these warriors by taking METRORail to the museum – just take the Museum District station exit and in a short walk, you’ll be ready to experience China’s history.

At age 13, it’s reported that King Qin Shi Huang started work on the army of 8,000 that would guard him in his afterlife. The Houston Museum of Natural Science exhibit features 14 of these life-size Terra Cotta Warriors, a chariot horse and 100 sets of other sculptures. Each piece is a testament to the level of artistry that took place more than 2000 years ago.

To find out more about these treasures from the tomb of Emperor Qin - journey to the Houston Museum of Natural Science via METRORail.
