Chairman Presents State Of Metro To Greater Houston Partnership

Enfoque METROIt’s been a momentous year for METRO. The agency has defied the odds, managing to roll out new services and keep its operating budget flat during a recession that has impacted all industries, including public transit.

Those are just a few of the accomplishments METRO Board Chairman David S. Wolff will address in his presentation to the Greater Houston Partnership. We invite you to join us.

A more mobile Houston is on the way. Here is a quick glance at some of METRO’s achievements:

  • Negotiated a $1.46 billion dollar contract for the expansion of the its light-rail network
  • Secured federal funding in the President’s FY2010 budget proposal
  • Cleared another FTA hurdle in obtaining final design approval for the North and Southeast corridors
  • Celebrated two historic groundbreakings this past July

These major developments only scratch the surface of what lies ahead for our city, and the local economy.
So, what is the current status of construction in the corridors? What challenges does METRO face?

Find out at the Greater Houston Partnership State of METRO: Reshaping the Face of Houston presentation by METRO Chairman David S.Wolff.
