METRO Connections 2009
METRO IS ON AIR AND EXPANDING ITS PROGRAMMINGThe spotlight is shining bright on METRO, and the agency is taking to the airwaves to keep you, our riders, informed. For the past month and a half, METRO has been producing a series of documentary-style programs highlighting its many services. The first show chronicled the agency’s history from 1979 to the present. The show examined the major transformations METRO has undergone over the years - from a bus company in shambles to one that is about to expand its light-rail network by an additional 30 miles. Other show topics include METRO’s role in the region’s emergency response, why buses are the backbone of the agency, a look at why people ride METRO, a round table on regional transit, and the momentous groundbreaking ceremonies for the North and Southeast corridors. METRO launched the cable access programs in June to provide riders and non-transit users with another way to learn about the agency, its developments and other transit news – and all with the simple click of the TV remote control. If you’ve missed any of the first programs, you can catch up by watching the shows on our Web site, click here. METRO’s programming airs on Comcast's HCCTV, Channel 19 weekdays at 6 p.m. Stay tuned, there’s more on the way. |
