WHO: METRO Board Chairman David S. Wolff; METRO President & CEO Frank J. Wilson

BACKGROUND: Critical components have come together in the build out of Houston’s voter-mandated light-rail system. This includes significant funding in the President’s budget and notices to proceed for construction of the North and Southeast corridors.

On September 23, 2008 after Hurricane Ike, some HOV lanes were open to help with the traffic congestion on the roads.

All high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes except the I-45 South HOV are open. METRO Police Chief Tom Lambert explained at a press conference what we were doing to keep the HOV lanes operational.
