According to the 2011 edition of the American Automobile Association's (AAA) Your Driving Costs, the average annual cost to drive a passenger vehicle
(Sedan) is 57.3 cents a mile or $8,588 for 15,000 miles. Fuel costs were based
on $2.880 per gallon, the late-2010 U.S. price from AAA's Fuel Gauge Report.
