Gerald B. Smith - Vice Chairman

METRO Board Member Gerald SmithGerald B. Smith was appointed to the METRO Board by the City of Houston in February 2004.

Mr. Smith is founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Smith, Graham & Co., an institutional fund manager.

He previously was senior vice president and director of fixed income for Underwood Neuhaus & Company and served as chairman of its executive committee. He also was affiliated with Westcap Corporation Investment Bankers and Dillon Read and Company in New York. Mr. Smith is a founding member of the New York Futures Exchange.

Mr. Smith serves on many community and civic boards, including the Houston Museum of African-American Culture, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Greater Houston Partnership, for which he also serves on the executive committee, and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

A Houston native, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in finance from Texas Southern University and serves on its foundation investment committee.
